The Essence of Sacrifice

We start with the praise of Allah SWT Who has bestowed his humble slaves an opportunity to serve the Ummah of his beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. We send our humble and loving salutations upon our Master صلى الله عليه وسلم whose guidance has brought us from darkness to light and following whose footsteps is an assurance of success in this world and the next.

We are grateful to Allah SWT for granting iCAN Sama-O-Basr Publications the opportunity to present yet another thought-provoking book and for choosing us to contribute to and further the discourse on many important topics that the Muslim Ummah requires guidance and clarity on. This book elaborates the
philosophy of sacrifice in Islam.

This book is structured into three sections, each providing beneficial insights about the concept of sacrifice.
– In Section 1, we delve into the inspirational story of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his sacrifice, drawing lessons of devotion and matchless commitment to Tauheed. This section clarifies the origins of the concept of sacrifice in Islam.
– Section 2 explains the inseparable relationship between growth and the attainment of perfection through sacrifice. It underscores the fundamental
Islamic principle that without sacrifice, there can be no true progress or growth in life. One has to come out of comfort zone in order to attain the next level of perfection in any field and endeavor.
Islam, through the concept of sacrifice, equips us to embrace this truth and thrive in terms of attainment of holistic perfection.
– Finally, Section 3 comprehensively addresses objections raised by those who advocate for the ban of animal sacrifice or restricting it. Through examination and inspiring reasoning, the objections are responded to. This section serves many purposes in addition to addressing the objections on the concept of sacrifice. It also teaches us the methodology to think, analyze, and give proper response. We can learn from a very systematic step by step approach used by Maulana Maududi and reflect upon it. If understood well, this approach can significantly help us in refining our response to the challenges
and questions of our times.
